I got an award!

For my stylish blog! It feels weird to say this since I have always felt awkward in this type of situations.

Or I should say my husband, Jay got the award because he is the one who tirelessly designed this web page and worked on my endless requests (Can you move that border like 3/32″ to the right, honey? Now bring that bullet list 1/16″ down please?)!

And guess what, we are still married!!

Jennifer from Scissors&Spatulas (she happens to be also my sister-in-law and no, I did not pay her to choose me) thought I deserved this award and now I have to do several things to spread the good vibe going. Here we go:

First of all, Thank you Jennifer! Hope your blog gets thousands of visits  per day :)

Secondly, I need to share 7 things about myself:

1.I am a very stubborn person, and I try to do the opposite of what people tell me that I can not do or I should be doing based on my age and/or gender.

2. I hated eggplants when I was a kid…very strongly…now I love them deeply.

3. I make some killer grits casseroles but I do not like eating grits.

4. I was not into cooking until I became anorexic in college. When I was recovering, I understood the value of a good home cooked meal.

5.   I had thought that I could control the things in my life until we got our dog, Tarchin. He turned out to be more stubborn than I am.

6. I LOVE LOVE Istanbul!

7. Although I love baking, cooking and sometimes we joke about opening a cafe or bakery, I love my profession. Being in water industry, finding solutions for better and safer water quality, volunteering for Water For People, all helps me to put everything in perspective and gives a meaning to my everyday job.

Ok, now you know a whole lot more about me… On to the third requirement. Originally choose 15 bloggers to forward this award. But Jennifer and people before her did for 5 bloggers… I went through my list and I decided that I can not leave these 7 people out – whom I visit regulary :) The list is not in any particular order, I love them all!

The Red Spoon (she is chic, stylish, great photos and recipes!)

Oil and Butter (he cracks me up everytime I read his posts! Good recipes as well… And I also want to know what a guy will do with a girlie Style award, he he :) )

Indian Simmer (she is warm, friendly, great cook and great photographer)

Cake Duchess (she is a sweet person, and a great baker)

Delish Living (one of the first people who started leaving comments on my blog and inspired me to be more organized about meal planning)

The Tomato Tart (Cool Sabrina! Has interesting recipes and we seem to be cooking around the same topics)

Anecdotes and Apple Cores (She is a warm, friendly person who is a great baker and a great story teller)

Now I have to let these stylish people know about this award chain and keep it going :)

Ilke you are so amazing! Thank you so much (apparently it is getting out how bad I am at keeping up with twitter and found a tweet…from eleven days ago…that you gave me an award!) Anyways, I do appreciate it, and I loved “getting to know you” a little bit more! P.S. your blog is beautiful!

Hi, Ilke, I don’t like your blog! I love, love and love it! :) Your husband did a fantastic job to give it a stylish look (perhaps in large part due to your ‘endless requests’), but you are the one who made it live, and unique – you are such a beautiful writer, baker and photographer! Keep up with all the good work! I admire your talents and passion! I am a lousy cook, but I will definitely try some of your recipes. Of course I will HAVE TO try your originals for a detailed, professional comparison. :D
