Life at f/stops…A Trip to Remember…

Have you ever been to a place so chaotic, but yet so orderly in a sense and so random that it feels unbelievably out-of-this world?

It was a beautiful and chilly fall morning when my SIL Jennifer and I pulled into the parking lot of Cline’s Antique Junk Yard. Don’t let “antique” fool you… there were some nice pieces and probably the only antiques I would go for there were the ones he refused to sell to anyone…but the rest…oh my…let me tell you…”rust and dust” were the words of the day! Think of anything…anything you might need at any random given time…This place has it. If you can not find it there, you will most likely not find it anywhere else in NC.

And Jennifer just lost herself in her heaven. I was mesmerized by everything, snapping pictures, and she was trying to gather items for her future projects. It was 35-degrees… It was cold… Our husbands must have thought we lost it probably. I had never been to junk yard before, let alone an “antique” one. While I was leaving the house, my husband said “you know what you will be doing next!”

” Black Friday shopping!!” .

I don’t like Black Friday shopping. At all! But I did not like junk yards as well once upon a time!

Every inch of the car was full! On the way back, I could not resist to sing in my head: “What you gon’ do with all that junk? All that junk inside your trunk?” It was all in my head though, I spared Jennifer the misery!

I used AV mode on my camera, all pictures are ISO 200, f/3.5, f/4 or f/4.5. There might be some blurry ones due to not knowing how to warm my hands while taking pictures. Can’t wait to go back and buy that Public Telephone sign..What was I thinking?

To give you an idea of how big this place: take this one:

and this:

and this:

and this:

and multiply with 100…acres and acres and acres of junk…now enjoy the rest and the rust, here we go:

Oh boy, I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE to go there! All those neat chairs! And cast iron pans galore (they’re easy to fix right back up to tip-top shape!). I’ve got a thing for shabby-chic, so the ‘junk’ here is right up my alley!

    Nice photos :)

Very cool! We have a store similar to that here in KC, but not as junky. But I love the junkiness of your store much better! Some really great stuff in there. I was thinking that some of that old wood would make a great table top for food photography!!!
