It is always a good thing to remember…
That no matter what kind of a mess or stress I get myself into and feel like there is no way out of it,
there is always a solution and good things might be waiting around the corner. And when the time comes, not to be afraid to turn that corner.
That most of the time, it is O.K. to let go of my worries, self-doubts and questions, and let the running water take them away from me and clear my mind:
That being busy is not a valid reason not to spend more time with my family and friends:
Because when everything else fails, they will be the only ones standing next to me, helping me to stand up:
That I should be curious, cheerful, and look around me every day as if I am seeing it for the first time and not be embarrassed to show my excitement for anything:
And remember that the sky is the limit and this world is but canvas to our imagination (H. D. Thoreau) :
And let 2012 begin!

What a wonderful post, Ilke. It’s taken me a long time to realize a number of these points, and even then I need to actively remind myself to take heed of them. Particularly putting family and friends first despite all of life’s other events. I only learned that one last year. For years I put all of my energy and focus into school. Grades were what mattered, not spending time with family and friends, laughing and loving. I’d stay home alone on Christmas to get a head start on school projects… and then in the end all you get is a piece of paper (which of course has its benefits), but if you’ve focused too long and hard to get that piece of paper, you might realize that it’s all you have left, and it’s a pretty poor conversationalist, and doesn’t offer comforting hugs when you need them.
Thank you for reminding me again of all of these very important points and all the best to you in 2012! I can’t wait to see what kind of stories and delicious treats you have in store for us!
